New KL71 Kuhmo Mud tyres - got them fitted to my 4Runner
I was one of the guys that got a set of the New Kuhmo Muds of Ryano from this thread he posted up.
http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modul ... hp?t=62064
Anyway I went down there between xmas and new years and had the 33's fitted to my 4Runner in time for my trip to Fraser Island for New Years.
More details on the tyres can be found here.
http://www.kumhotire.com/int/Tires/SUVD ... currpage=1
Some pics of them on my 4Runner.......
Very chunky!!
First impression is excellent.....they handle heaps better on the bitumen than the old radial claws, and are as loud as the claws when new also. Have only test them offroad on Fraser Island, and at 15psi they handled everything excellent. I can't wait to get them out in the mud for a run.
The 33x12.5 R15's will retail for around $280.....
Call Ryano at Fourby's on (07) 3892 2766 if your after a set.

Had them in the wet for the first time yesterday, and they are deffinetly the best mudder I've driven on in the rain. With the deep grooves in the middle it didn't aqua plane much at all, and was very controllable when hitting large sheets of water flowing over the road. (The sunnycoast got a ripper of a storm yesterday).
Sideways grip is excellent too, it took a lot of effort to get it to drift in the wet, and was still controllable after I over corrected it on one corner.....
They are a lot softer compound than the old radial claws. They are a lot harder to do a burnout with, both in the wet and in the dry. It's going to be very intersting to see how they wear since they seem so soft.

Got these tyres fitted to my hilux last Saturday (thanks Ryno). The service that you prove is great, very fast and efficent. I haven't been off road on then yet but I'm very impressed with then on road. Very very grippy on the black stuff in the wet. There not overly noisy (alot quiter than the simex m/ts I had.) And they look tuff. Be going off road as soon as my winch is on...Let you know what I think of them
14mm isnt a huge amount of depth for a mud tyre, what did the bajas have new.interesting to see if some one puts them up against some steep rocky tracks and see if they chop out seeing as every ones saying there soft and drive well in the wet.there not going to work much different to any other mud on the market really, the difference will be longevity against gravel roads, rocky tracks and bitumen.
14-17mm is pretty much the normal range.pootrol wrote:14mm isnt a huge amount of depth for a mud tyre, what did the bajas have new.interesting to see if some one puts them up against some steep rocky tracks and see if they chop out seeing as every ones saying there soft and drive well in the wet.there not going to work much different to any other mud on the market really, the difference will be longevity against gravel roads, rocky tracks and bitumen.
To put that into perspective a passenger car or HT type tyre is more like 6-8mm

That should be right about Tax return time. Sounds like a plan!Ryano wrote:It's still going to be a few months (read 3-4ish) before they will be here. They have only just begun production runs on the 16" sizes.
Cheers,
Ryano
Make sure you let everyone know when the 16" are in stock Ryano, I'll probably be after some 285/75's.
