Boost ajustment

Post by Nigel R »

U should get a boost gauge first so u can tell what the boost is.
To raise the boost presure u have to blead off the waste gate with a boost controller .U can buy them from most performance shops. It is a little technical if u don't now what u are doing.

Hope that helps a little

To adjust the boost on your turbo you can put washers under the bolts on your turbo actuator, thus pulling your actuator down, and increasing your boost. Or you could gat a boost "T" from turbosmart or something and do it that way, but you will need a boost gauge. Its pretty self explanetry, you could do it your self.

Man that "big silver round thing" in the cross over pipe is the factory blow off valve. Screw it in or out as much as you want it will either crack the cross over pipe if screwed in too much or pull out if screwed out to much but will do fark all towards increasing your boost. It sounds like you best leave things to a mechanic. You also need to look at fuel mixtures, intercooling (if not already done), etc before you start messing around. To you know how prone to overheating a nissan turbo diesel is when you start messing with fuel mixtures and boost? As I said sounds like you best leave it to a professional if you now this much but if you insist on trying it I will take pics of one of my rigs late tomorrow night and try and explain things to you.
Cheers

ah but "they" also say the best way to learn is by your mistakes. But yeah if ya don't have a clue and it is running well dont f**k with it. but the cheepest way to get more boost is to bleed off your wastegate actuator line with a tee piece and slowly drill bigger holes in it to increase boost or buy a proper controller to do this. But more boost aint gonna do anything more without more fuel. You don't get something for nothing though, fuel = power no matter how inefficently you burn it.
