I spoke to TJM earlier and the hole they cut in the guard is around 90-95mm or so. So its a 4" hole pretty much. He said its virtually pointless putting a 3" on because you will starve the engine of air (on mine any way, turbo diesel) so im thinking about going 3". Just worried about the weight.
Has anyone seen the latest issue (#87) of 4WD Monthly? There is a SWB paj in there with a stainless snorkel. He has an OL sticker on the his door. Just wondering if he was on here.

All the gear, No idea...
Have been doing some research myself as I too would love to add a custom made s\steel snorkel. So I made a few enquires, sent off a few mails and got this reply:
The bends are approx $55 each & the straight in stainless would be around $100. Can send it all to you.

I would quite like to fit an ally/rubber or s/steel snorkel to my HJ75.
I could get Nick to send me the snorkel bits, but how would I mate the snorkel to the airbox?

pridhac - i went to my local sheety and got him to make me a square to round,
LANBOY - mock it up on the car put pencil marks at the centres, draw a line down the centre, double check. pre drill some holes through your line.
take the gaurd off the car and drill it through. took me all of 3 hours to fit it up includin chasin the bits up and triple checking everything

I don't mind drilling through the guard, it is getting the snorkel to enter the airbox that is the problem.
The existing intake is on the 'front', and the snorkel will need to come in the 'side'. Because of the shape of the airbox I cannot rotate it.
I am beginning to think the airbox will need to be replaced...

hey rockyF70 yea it was $195 made and fitted tho i had to make the hole in the side of the car. i went to clark rubber and got soime rubber strip with a grive bou the thickness of the pannel metal n got a piece of scrap metal n a peice of 3" pipe n test made one then did it on my car den dropped it off at Moore Mufflers at Broadmeadow and picked it up in der arvo all done $195
Hoonz with the original bundera airbox it had an oval/square inlet so i sourced a similar Hilux airbox from dismantlers n i had to cut off mounting tabs and re weld them upside down so it was all sweet if yo dont want to source a new air box yo u could cut off the square one and re plate it so you can weld a round one on. if you are determined you will find a way just sit n think a little
hope it helps

I install aircon for a living and 90% of the ductwork is mildy ribbed on the inside, if i remember correctly it up's the static pressure which in turn increases airspeed but not the flow rate if ya get me?. its a science in itself and i'm sure someone out there can validate my explanation or shoot me down totally!Presuming the inside of the intake flex-pipe in the above pic is corrugated on the inside, wouldn't this do horrible things to your airflow?
(edit:flamesuit: yes i know all intercooler piping/most intake is smooth there's a reason for this too just dont ask me what )
