GQ/GU chassis

Post by mickyd555 »

ok, you may or may not know that i need to replace the chassis on my GU ute and have been trying to do so for a while now. the biggest problem im having is keeping the cost down to minimum.

first Question- i know the GQ chassis mounts will line up, apart from the crush tubes on the front not being there is there any other problems you can forsee me having? (my understanding is that crush tubes are for the airbags.......mine is a non airbag model)

second question- can any engineers in the know about QLD rules see me having a problem with registering this vehicle (assume that it is roadworthy, standard height, yada yada.........)

Hey Mickyd555,
With the first Q, Im pretty sure the chassis are the same, I read somewhere a GU diff bolts into a GQ chassis. Im not sure about engine mount location, but I couldnt see any difference. With the registration, I dont think there would be any need to re-register it, Whos ging to know? Hope this helped a little. Ring nissas, they might know.
