He has been running the Siverstones that look like Simex for a while now too. Top rig just needs to get that A Frame to hold on the rear diff. Top Bloke Too. Very competitive truck.

Remember me?
Final doing something just a little olde skool,as couldnt talk the boss into wrecking the Ford, not just yet anyway.

Yes a coil rear end would be a bonus but im still learning about A Frames and how to make them,I find because this is an old truck not to many people are interested in helping.
So im trying to do it on my own.(Keep researching and asking questions.
Love a V8 but no one to my knowledge does a kit to fit a ford V8 in.
May have to change camps.
So i will stick with the old L28 for time been.

Kind regards Chad.
If you are talking about an MQ/MK, Dellow Auto do a Ford V8 kit to replace the L28.

They also do a kit to fit a Falcon EA or later 6 cylinder in place of the L28, which might be a cheaper swap and still give a huge increase in torque and hp over the stock L28.

As Beastmavster says, though, you might as well bolt in the engine and transmission as a unit - I reckon a good low budget drivetrain for an MQ would be to put in the EFI falcon 6, the 4 speed auto, and a rover transfer case with a 1.2:1 high to get the gearing down. But others will laugh at this idea! They always laugh at me! :)

Jason
Do you know what year rover for the transfer?
Im not laughing at you, thats food for though.

Nothing wrong with using the Ford 6... at least its stronger and more reliable than the commodore V6..... Unless you get the EA 3.9 one.....

I certainly would have no complaints about using the new BF Falcon 6 and 6 speed in it :D

Dont knock the power increase on using a falcon 6 - a crappy taxi spec EB-ED is something like 144kw which is only about a 65% increase over a stock L28, and the newer ones are even more.

Why people think that V6 commodoring their heaps is a good idea but dont even think of using the cheaper, larger and more powerful ford motors is something I've never understood.

For an early MQ (or of course if you're planning pure gas) you should legally be able to go a XE 351 V8 instead.... and if it's a comp truck I can't see why you wouldnt.

Almost all the rover tcases have reduction for high range.... it becomes more an issue of how low do you want in low range.....

A rover tcase with say 3.3:1 low/1.2:1 high and whole engine/gearbox transplant would work out very cheap since you dont need adaptor kit + rockhopper + diff gears....

For the rover Tcase, get the LT230T as opposed to the LT230. The "T" stands for Tapered roller bearings. They can take alot more abuse than the earlier LT230s. I think they were post 85-86. I can say from experience that they have great reduction standard.
