HELP!! Spring rear pin issues. URGENT!

I need help!

I'm taking the leaf packs into Camden on the weekend and I'm having trouble removing the rear pin in the front spring packs.

I can, quite easily rotate one end of it with a 3/4 in spanner but that's it. One issue I'm having is I can only rotate it about 1/8th of a turn as one flat side hits on the mounting bracket. See Pic. I've tried useng a persuader to punch it out but it won't move. The only thing I can think of is that it's been threaded into the bracket then welded together.

I can't figure it out??!! I've taken the nut off the back and expected it to coe straight out with a little effort. I can't say they're stuck or jammed because I can rotate them a little.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME?

Go this option as mentioned it's about the quickest and easiest way to do the job.

Get one of the thin cutting discs, run it up between the mount and the spring and cut the pin in half on either side. The spring will fall out then and you can knock the remaining pieces of pin out of the mount.

Only be a few dollars on cutting discs, then buy new bushes and pins as whats in their will be stuffed even if you could get them out any other way.

The reason you can turn it but can't get it out would be because it has metal sleeved rubber bushes. The pin will be siezed into the metal sleeve preventing it from coming out, but the sleeve will be loose in the bush allowing you to be able to turn it.

Then have fun getting the rest of the bush out of the spring You've got 20 years worth of rust, corrosion dust, dirt, mud and whatever else to contend with there.

WHen i did the suspension in my MQ i basically cut it all out, pins, shackles, U-Bolts the lot. Was far quicker to do it this way and simply put all new parts back in.

When doing the spring over on my 40 I did this too. I used hi tensile bolts throughout aswell as new bushes. For the (small) amount of money it makes sense. Strength is good and new bushes replacing nearly 30 year old ones made a big difference. If there is surface rust on any suspension parts, now would be a good time to hit em with the wire brush in the grinder and some rust proofing paint aswell.

Been there done that. My that was a nightmare. Use a cut off blade, not a hacksaw like me!

I did the cutting disk option. Took me 5 minutes eachside. One pin and bush literally fell out but the other is stuck like shyte to a blanket so I'll have to do a little persuading with that one.

I called up Pedders to see how much new pins and bushes would be. He said he'ddo me a deal. It would 'only' cost me $95 for the lot. I soiled myself. I couldn't believe a couple of bolts and bushes were that much particularly after stool posted

Bummer - I'm just down the road from camden, and could have given you a pair. Any special reason you were bringing your leaf packs down this way?

Screwey gave me a tutorial on leaf packs and added a few leafs to my packs. The front end was sagging a little.

Are they the stock ones??
