dobbin engineering steering setup

anyone know anything about this setup that's pictured on the dobbin site? most notably the aluminium section that wraps around the front of the swivel hub

To me that looks like its there to brace the hi steer set up.

i gather that. i'm lookin for something like this to stop what happened to my mates cruiser last weekend at rover park. sheering 16 studs will be harder than sheering 8 off ;)

Thats an 80 series set up and im not sure but it may be on The Professors Hilux.

yeah its a 80 they use 2 studs at the top and 2 at the bottom where a hilux has 4 at the top and 4 at the the bottom

80's use 4 studs on the bottom on a larger PCD (stronger) and 2 bolts on top as all the top bolts do is secure top king pin spindle. There is greater load on the bottom king pin and on 80's the steering arms attach to the bottom. On other solid axle Toyota's (40's, 60's, 75's and Hilux's the steering arm attach to the top so hence 4 studs to hold the steering arms secure. 80 Tops king pins have no probs when running standard configuration steering set-ups.
