Gday all i have just brought a 99 space cab hilux, It has 102k km on it, the timing belt light has not come on yet but i want to change it anyway.
Now its the 3ltr diesel and i can not find any info about changing it. Iv found lot of info about the 1hz belts and now to turn the light off on most models, but no info about changing the 5Ls actual belt. Is there any tricks or is it just straight forward?. Im a mechanic by trade,
Also it has no seat belts in the rear, Are there mounting points behind the plastic to fit the seat belts?
Thanks Shane

According to my owners manual the 5l (3 Litre) belt to be changed at 150,000
I think it is a straight forward job for someone with a bit of mechanical knowlage, but would be good to look at a manual for toque specs ect on tensioner and idler pullies.
Not sure about turning the light off, but on a KZN 185 Surf you have to pull the instument cluster out to change a screw from 1 hole to another. Why Toyota ever came up with this is beond me.
I take it you mean an Extra Cab, this is Toyota's wording for it.
There probably is mounts for the seatbelts behind the plastics but unless it is an SR5 model it will not be legal to have anybody in the back, even with belts, don't know why. Unless it has something to do with the style of rear seat in there. What does yours have? fold ups or hard full length bench.
Hope that answers a few things
