Hilux Gearbox question.

Post by ToNkA »

Well the new engine is running well in the lux, but the gearbox doesn't seem to like it too much.

Well its shifting fine but 2nd gear is now making a horrible screaming noise! Sounds like a bearing has gone or something. Other gears are fine.

Whats my best plan of action and what actually is wrong?

New Gear Box?
New Bearing?
Upgrade to Dyna Box?
DIY Recon?

Cheers.

You can get rebuild kits off EBAY for about $250   and do the work your self or get a w56 a stronger and better box that will i think bolt straight up,(PLEASE ANYONE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG).
Lockers or Knockers ,both will make for fun.

Thanks for the info.

I had no idea if there was a recco kit or such for that box. I think the box has never been touched in the 20 odd years its been in the lux.

Cheers..
