check my members thread...
and godzilla's thread on franken-rocky

for whinch challenge ud want to replace about everything.

Rocky diffs are piss weak compared to nissan/cruiser, gearbox and
transfer are made for light trucks and the engine is pretty solid IMO.

once i get the suspension sorted on mine it'll be a tossup between:

COMMODORE 3.8L V6
TURBO 700 AUTO
LT230 LANDROVER T-CASE WITH ADAPTOR.

or

Rover 3.9L V8
HiLux 5speed
Dual hilux T-Case

ill think of more food later

Hey Spartacus, i've acquired the parts. 3RZFE, Hilux axles and TC. And if i'm mad enough i've an 3.5 Rover V8 lying in the shop.

U might want to consider getting some weird Malaysian contraption call a "San Winch" aka God's Winch.
Probably the fastest PTO winch to date. All top 3 RFC cars were using that.
Seems to be a mismatch of parts from a Datsun 120Y gearbox. Probably due to the ratio it flies.

One of the RFC Rockys setup is a Bundera axle, TC and gearbox. 1JZ engine.
My RIG sucks big time.

so your are going 2.7L hilux+TC+axles?

here's a link to a fella in shitney who put lux diffs under his rocky:

does the 3RZFE a straight swap into the rocky engine mounts or are you
doing the mounts yourself?

a PTO winch is not really the best thing for a winch challenge you have to be able to drive and winch at the same time. winching over rocks etc is alot different then mud. kym bolton has spent mega bucks on a pto to try and get it to run right but he still can't winch and drive. warn high mounts are the only way to go. billy lynne has got a hyd power 10000lbs low mount ox winch runs ok now after alot of money and mucking around. (many night spent in his shed working on it) when i had my lwb zook in a winch challenge back in 02 i had a 9000lbs warn low mount with a 2 speed motor on it. but its not fast enough these days.

how did Spartacus go with the dept of transport when you put the mq diffs under it?

department of transport...... the car looks defective just sitting there, it hs a max speed of around 90 (flogging the shit out of it) and needs 35s to get gear ratios back to normal.........he has now taken the car off the road, and it is getting next round of mods started.

queensland transport forgot about the diffs.
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown

havnt gone to dept of transport yet. got to re-read the regulations to
make sure it complies with what they want.
i max out at 90 at 3500RPM with 33s and havent completely taken it off
the road YET... just removing the useless inside stuff
