hilux diff mated with 9 inch center
I am looking a buying a hilux that has had the rear diff modified so that it is running a 9 inch center to supposed hilux axles. This is just first mod in the list of a list i have been given that has supposedly made this truck awesome.
03 turbo twin cab hilux + 85 xtra cab 253, Have i ever said i love lockers?
You are talking about a ford 9" arent you??? The cruiser diff isnt as strong as a ford 9", its not just the crownwheel size that makes a diff strong.
I dont see why you would go to all that trouble using hilux axles, why not something beefier? Check out sunray engineerings "609" axles for example.

yeah it is a ford nine inch i am just curious cause to mee it seems like a whole lot of money he has spent on this vehicle to get it perfect the way he wants it. It is nice when it is getting sold at more than 3 times less than what the bloke spent on building it.

The 9" pinions will fail with spring rap the same as any other diff.
There was a big post a while ago about the myths surrounding 9" diffs.
DaddyLongLegs had some interesting things to say about weak carriers etc.
Alignment would be my concern with any hybrid part like this, particularly on a daily driver, not such an issue on a toy.

Ive made up dozens of Cruiser Hilux hybrid rear diffs and never heard from and one having hassels and goes together with std cruiser centre and std lux axles so if theres ever a prob you can find the bits that could break at the milkbar.J Top wrote:The 9" pinions will fail with spring rap the same as any other diff.
