Dana 44 Ratio's.

Post by Bitsamissin »

Is there a 5.29 diff ratio available for a Dana 44, either factory or aftermarket ?
What Oz sold 4x4's came with a Dana 44 front ?? I'm pretty sure some Bronco's did ? For a SAS what model D-44 would be the best suited as for parts etc.

Sounds like you're getting things sorted to do a SAS on the Paj ;) ;) :D

When have you got it planned for :?:
It should make it easier to fit the 35's

gear ratio's are no probs, call locky at procomp, they have a container coming soon. all f100's have a dana 44 front diff, plus some chevs, scouts, and 77 onward broncos. but fords from 80 onward have the ttb front end (twin traction beam) ifs.

Thanks for that Crushu, I was told pretty much that, just wanted to confirm it.
Maybe early next year Besty, I may start collecting parts now and doing some research.
It will run 35"s as is but just need to do the 2" b/l first. The rear suspension has to be sorted before anything is done to the front.

I am sure there will be a ratio to match!

You want a Ford or Bronco one, the others are like toyotas and are on the wrong side.

Good question Wooders, the Challenger that went Dana 44 front got a HP but I don't know if our local ones were or not.

Wendle I'm having HD rear axles made up now so that should solve that problem. The Mitsu 9" 12 bolt rear diff is bigger and stronger than a D 44 (the diff guy who did my front Detroit agreed on this) it's the axles that are not as strong (even though they are close in size). Mine also has an ARB locker so the cost of going D 44 rear also could not be justified.
Although I'd gain half an inch of clearance under the diff though with a D 44 rear :D But I think it would be a downgrade in outright strength once the HD axles are in, see pic for D44 vs 9" Mitsu and no the sexy, exotic creature is not me

He sure looks a lot like you Frank, I know you have more pics of him naked. You seem to poast him every three months like we have forgotten or something. I'm still not eating. Some of the Fords will have a HP front.
