G13BA -> GTi Head Swap

Post by HotAe92 »

Hey all,

First off, is it possible to swap the standard G13 head to a GTi EFI setup?
Has Anyone does it?
Would it be worthwile?
Would it be as easy as it seems?
Where would you likely source parts from in WA?

I just see this as a easier conversion than swapping the entire engine. Im looking more at an EFI setup than anything for the time being, and possibly stripping the engine down when it is due for a rebuild, rebuilding it with forgies and strapping on an SC12.

Ive been told that coilies are harder for engine conversions and fitment of rockcrawler gears and so forth, which got me thinking of a headswap. Is this true?

Cheers

yeah it can be done, but it wouldn't be just a head swap, after all think what happens when the any pair of the 16 valves meet any of the 4 single valve pistons.

Solution? Well maybe swap the pistons too?
Well great high compression but might as well do the forged cornrods while your at it. (Jimny pistons might be a better option if its going forced induction shortly after)

If you did the forged crank then the pulley would be different, so new fan pulley, starter and alternator (be curious as to whether a carbed vitara single v pulley would do the job?)

So as well as the problems associated with the whole engine coversion (wiring loom, right angle dizzy, themostat housing, exhaust manifold) you have the above

Using a g13ba block for twincam should prob only be a choice to those rebuilding anyway or those who are insanely attaced to te idea of the engine number matching the one stamped on the firewall ;) (i happen to be very fond of a person like that :lol: )

If its just EFI your after ive been informed by a suzuki specialist that you can put a Vitara EFI head on a G13A and wire up the Vitara loom and computer.

so you reckon ill be better off going for a vitara spi head. What modifications will be needed, excluding loom and wiring. i.e. fuel pumps etc?
