I think I saw that one on a TV show from the USA (one of those American Hot Rod type shows)

Given a 40 - guess they couldn't do better!

Maybe they'll make a better soft top that goes up and down like the Jeep's... but Jeeps are crap... so... maybe they shouldn't!!

I was told not to put a soft top on mine - suggestions?

I believe the one at the top is a Re-man one. IE some co in the US buys an old crusier, re-builds it, whacks in a new (upgraded) parts and a lick of paint and Bobs your auntie.

That is why it looks like a 20 year old cruiser. it is

You obviously haven't read the link ;)
The truck is not a "rebuilt" FJ40 most parts are actually hand made or sourced from other manufacturers

Would have been easier to just stick landcruiser badges on a Wrangler wouldn't it?

At least it would have coils then!

Yep,it allows you to use low range in 2wd without unlocking the hubs.

Its built on a prado floorpan and uses the same driveline and V6 petrol engine so its not too far away from what many drive here.
Having said that I dont like the looks too much either.
American owners reckon its got bad visibilty out the back and the rear passengers feel claustrophobic.
