I've got an 83/84 Hilux.
Can someone tell me, how much movement should the tail shaft have inside the centre bearing? 1-2 inches?
A clicking noise has starting coming from the drive train somewhere. Its worse when going up a hill in 1st gear, its a bit better in second gear, and isn't there at all in 3rd, 4th and fifth.
It sounds just like CV's but it's coming from the mid/rear section of the vehicle. When I jumped under it to have a look, first thing I grabbed was the tail shaft, and noticed the sloppiness inside the center bearing. Normal, or could that be my problem?
Also - are centre bearing easy to replace yourself? I just found a newie on ebay for $65
