the 3l makes more torque and horsepower than the 4.2TD (not the intercooled version) if i remember.. (could be wrong)

so in that case.. the 3 inch zaust should be good enough to free up all the extra ponies.

and the safari d-tronic should finish the package nicely..

I assume it will be similar, though my TD5 has a factory 2.5" system, which is now only running the last muffler. Sounds a bit more ballsy than OE.

having already tried for the 4.2 and no luck considering its free i really dont want to argue............ so it's either stock sound or try for a little more pleasant sound than tick tick tick

whats these d-tronics etc worth?
whats these d-tronics etc worth?
About 15 hunge for the dTronic. About another 9 hunge for the zaust. Be careful with it tho, they have a cat converter. Don't bin it, as the lack of backpressure will upset the engine management. I know a zaust shop near Brissie that will actually flare out the entry and exit of the stock cat to match a larger dia mandrel bent zaust. Supposed to really do the job.

I have the dTronic and am very happy with it.

Congrats on the free car Bingham .. ya lucky bastard ..... however the bad news is there is no way to make a 3 litre GU sound good .... not because it has the wrong exhaust ... not because you have to run the cat converter (as someone mentioned earlier) ... and no not even because they are the same capacity as a large container of milk ... no it because they only have half the required amount of cylinders mate. If it aint a V8 it's never gonna sound good :finger:

i threw away the cat on mine when i went 3" mandrel, most diesels don't have them and the RTA wouldnt have a clue

made a huge difference on a straight pipe and dtronic

got a 3' mandrel right through on mine with a straight through muffler... sounds nice...(for a diesel) and gets a nice turbo whistle... i even have passengers looking round for cops at times from the sound

only cost me 600 bucks and has probably increased the grunt by 15% or so
