Has any one ever put a centre out of a LN167 into a LN106 carrier housing? If the crownwheel is packed out with a machined spacer will it work?

the complete 3rd will bolt right in, but im guessing you only a C&P.

i tried this with a v6 4.3 rear out of a 4runner, it had an air locker and i wanted to fit my 5.29 gears to it. the problem is, what i think you are talking about, when it is all bolted together the crown wheel is about 12mm away from touching the pinion. i was going to machine a spacer like you talk about but it all got to hard to quick. the bearing caps are 1.5mm bigger on the later diffs and you cant buy a bearing with the right id and od to suit so you also need to machine a sleve to go over the crown wheel bearings. it looks kinda like the egg rings you use for cooking on the stove.

In the short, yes it can be done, but unless you can do all the machining yourself it is quicker and easier to sell it and get the right thing.
