Flooded hilux!? Are there any effects?
Hi guys,
The other week a drove my 1991 SR5 Dual cub lux through a river crossing but the car stalled in the middle of the rivel (bloody air cleaner box isnt sealed properly).
Anyways, the water came inside the car just up to the bottom of the instrument panel (didnt get inside stopped just below it).
I changed the oil straight away from the engine and also the oil filter and the airfilter and then the car runs all good now.
What I'd like to know is what the effects of such a thing happening are on the car (mainly corrosion issues inside the cab i am concerned about, like the wiring etc)? Short term/long term? Are there any other problems which flooding your car could bring up?

most notable effect would be soggy carpet
seriously, take any electrical plugs which were submersed apart and spray them with wd40
The WD40 sould not affect electrical conductivity but will stop corrosion from the water in the plugs
Might be an idea to do the engine bay as well as under dash
Tip with the plugs- squeeze the locking tab then push the plug in before pulling it apart
cheers

BTW very important to check for tadpoles in the glovebox
Lockers or Knockers ,both will make for fun.

Getting off the electrical side of things and onto the interior side of things (was a auto trimmer)...if you havent already done so...I would remove the seats and so on so you can get the carpet/vynil floor out. These will dry obviously but its the underlay they use for sound/heat proofing that I would get rid of. Its cheap and easy to replace.
This will hold moisture for a long time if left unchecked and not only that...IT WILL STINK OUT THE CAR!!!!

I left one little bit of underlay beside the trans tunnel
Gives me somewhere to rest the left foot on hot days
All the heat from your engine bay heats the floor up

Mongrel gave me the wrong thrust bearing, their inter changable he says, dickhead
Started swapping it today, took ill (think I'm gonna die), the gearbox still sitting on the jack, maybe tomorrow
