87 hilux headlights and electrics

Post by Heath.Davis »

Do the std headlights have relays fitted or do they just run puny wires directly from the switch to the lights?

Does the std alternator have a direct link between the out put and the battery? Mine has a wire floating in the engine bay that isnt attached to anything but the alternator and would reach the + battery side perfectly.

Alternator

Mate i think the best thing you can do is take the 'if it aint broke dont fix it' approach with the alternator because who knows what someone has dont to the truck since it was new, the wiring could be anything but standard. The headlights should have a relay fitted, best bet is to but a workshop manual and they will provide full wiring diagrams.
