Saw a 3.0 GUIV Patrol in Brisbane a couple of weeks back with a modified exhaust. Sounded as good as any 4.2 TD Patrol I've heard.
From memory it was a goldy colour (I think, it was dark), lifted with 33" + tyres on black steel rims.
If anyone knows of it I would really like some info as it sounded sweet.

ok ,,,,, bus arrived... very grandpa currently but im trying to tee up a visit to fourbys sat to try and start to rectifiy this................

so pleasantly supprised by the 3l auto in it's hiway herbs as thats 95 % of it's work....... kills phippseys stock 4.2td gu  and if it blows up .... well who could care less..... i'll get another for free

so am going to get a system anyway so it's either 2.5 or 3 ? with or without cat?

im getting told as not overly mechanical that the less backpressure on a turbo the better? then some telling me you must have cat for engine management.... then other saying it's not needed leave it out.............?

come on guys can we atleast try to semi align our comments :?

fact pls

cheers

Mate,

Ring Beaudesert Exhaust and talk to them.

They do a 3 inch bolt on system which retains the cat converter however it gets opened up. $800 as quoted. I think this is with a larger dump pipe too.

I was seriously looking into this when I was about to take delivery of a 3.0ltr GU late last year.

Take a look on the PATROL4X4 forum and do a quick search. There is heaps of info on there and a few people who 'actually' have the systems installed.

Oh, and there is no reason why a 3.0Ltr Patrol can't sound as good as any other turbo diesel. I've heard import Isuzu MU's with big pipes on them and they sound horn!

Righto, good luck with it mate.

Ha ha ha.

But mine sounds, looks and goes sweet. Yer.

I think the basic story on this post is give up. No one's got a 3.0 that sounds good.

I might also like to plug my 3" Mandrel bent system, custom, was $400 cheaper than Beaudesert Exhausts, so consider shopping around to your local suppliers.
