LSD problem
Just got back from cape york and the GU's LSD is now an open diff !
jacked up both rear wheels, in neutral, handbrake off and turn one rear wheel and the other one turns in the opposite direction.
seems to be slightly more backlash.
What is likely to be wrong ?
will it do more damage if i keep driving it for a while?
got to do something before the weekend before the ASCC comp as open diffs just won't cut it in there, it was bad enough with just the rear LSD.

Sounds like a Toyota LSD was fitted instead. What did you do up the Cape to make that happen?
Pull it out and check the clutch pack condition. Perhaps you could get away with shimming it up for the short course event, otherwise good time for a locker.

was hopeing it could be something come loose, will have to remove it tomorrow for a look, would rather chuck in an air locker than spend money on repairing the LSD.
hope theres room on the visa card!
bugger, would rather of put in a front airlocker if the limo was still working.

LSD's need resistance to work, just jack up one wheel and spin it hard and see what it does.
just an idea
or get 1 wheel on tar and 1 wheel in some dirt and give it a boot full and see what happens,
but if you want i have an LSD out of a GU coil cab

found some broken bits which i think was one of the clutch plates, no water and the oil was very black.
No problem now though, has an airlocker in there now
