2BBL Holley/webber to 12R Adaptors

Post by TX4000 »

I have a Lynx KC217 adaptor but this is for an 18R, I have slotted it/drilled it buggered around with it, but its still not right. Are there any other adaptors made for this conversion ? or should I get the manifold built up and machined to suit ? also the butterflys open the opposite way, so a link built up or a cable extension ? anyone done this in the past ?
Carb has L6536 on the plate but no google luck.

Cheers.

Years ago, I made up an adaptor plate for a 4 barrel Holley to a 245 slant 6 Valiant motor in my race car. I removed the studs from the manifold, and got some brass countersunk head screws with matching thread. I drilled the plate to suit, countersunk the holes matching with the manifold holes, so the screws sat flush with the top, then bolted up through the plate to suit the carb.

yeah similar idea here but the problem is the manifold studs are 110mm spaced and the Holley/Webber is spaced @ 90mm My idea is use 2 of the original manifold studs (extended ones) to go right through adaptor and carb and 2 studs are tapped in the alloy adaptor, the same end has bolts into manifold. Its messy but its the only way i can see it working. And after all that the valve opens the opposite way, so a linkage or some sorts is required.
All easy ways have been removed it seems.

Well, if the carb spacing is narrower than the manifold, then countersink the underside of the adaptor, then put taper head bolts up through the plate, and nut the carb to this. Then use original manifold bolts to hold plate down. Is yours cable or linkage throttle. Use cable if possible, maybe adapt one if yours is originally linkage. Is it possible to reverse the lever on the butterfly, and have the cable come in on the top or bottom, whichever is opposite to existing. Then make up a bracket to hold cable outer. Anything is possible, just more grey matter needed.

This is no good for you? Or is it what you already have?
