Went to my local brake repairer yesterday, for a set of rear shoes and 2 rear wheel cylinder kits for my Rocky. He rang 3 suppliers for the shoes, not available. He rang PBR for the wheel cylinder kits, no longer available. If they were, they would be $18.00 a side.
The unavailable shoes is, hopefully, just a temporary issue, as apparently there is a big change over happening in the braking industry at the moment. Apparently, by the end of this year, all brake shoes sold MUST be asbestos free. I am hoping that the companies that reline the shoes are concentrating on the popular makes and models, and will gradually reintroduce the less popular shoes. Anyway, Mr Brakeman has sent my shoes away for relining.
As for the NLA of the wheel cylinder kits from PBR, thats a real worry, except, that I then went to my local Daihatsu dealer, expecting the worst and having to pay a small fortune, only to find availability is ok, and a price of $11.00 a side. Moral, check with a dealer for genuine prices, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Brake Parts Availability
Mud makes excellent toothpaste.
Surprised is the word.
Had similar issue with Jayco camper trailer. Brake shoe overheated and was destroyed near Shark Bay in WA. Tried to fix the brakes without success in all the towns along the way until we got to Darwin . Brakeman relined them which took few days.
Lesson - we have it really easy on the East Coast with all the parts, spares
and service.
