Just a quick question.

Post by ThirstyMQ »

Hi all,

I posted up a question a little while ago about "Is there some such Patrol as a G-Pack?"

The reason I did this is because the guy I bought it from turned out to be full of shyte. Now I have reason to doubt if it s even an MQ!

I checked out the L28 Engine number threat i the bible but found it a little confusing.

My numbers are as follows: KM160 734172

I believe the last group if digits are the build number.

I want to know if it's an MQ or MK. I was told it was an MQ to start with but I think it might be an MK. It was built in 6/84 and has square headlights.

Please help me!!?!

Some info I gathered:

MK came out in mid to late 1984. Nissan dealers do not seem to recognise
the MK as a model designation
.

MQ Round headlights, 4 Speed Manual, 24volt diesel.
MK Square headlights, 5 Speed Manual, 12Volt diesel.

Nissan dealer network in Australia identified the MQ update as an MK.
It was supplied with rectangular headlights and rubber bushes at both
ends of the front main leaf instead of steel.
The diesel came with a 12v system and the sd33t (turbo) was
introduced.
The 4.0 litre petrol was dropped.

So, when someone above said "they are both the same" they are pretty much right. MK is just an update of the MQ, not recognised as a new model. Well, that's what I have been able to find out via a very quick search.

Yep. There are lights in the rear bar.

It's not that big a deal really. I would just like to know for sure. I'd feel like more of a fool than I do now if someone asked me what I had and said it was an MQ only to find out that is wasn't.

Cheers
Lewie

It's not looking good for the fella I bought it off though.

More details.

fnq,

Mine looks very similar. Never heard of an SQ before though. Is it an overseas model?

If no-one has guessed yet, I'm not quite up to speed on Patrols but I'm soaking up as much as I can.

MKs were around in early 84, Mine is a 12/83 build.
