3.9l efi engine conversions - engineers certificate needed?

3.9l efi engine conversions - engineers certificate needed?
Would i need an engineers certificate to put a 3.9l and zf from a disco into a rangie - 1976 mod or a 1992 defender ute in nsw or can i just bolt it in and change it on the rego?
Thats what i thought, but the defender came out with a 3.9 in other countrys - us and europe. Also if you put a new 4.6 block where a 3.9 (or 3.5) was, thats more than 15%, but the same/similar engine block. I remember an engineer telling me years ago that i didnt need an engineers for a 400 chev in a hk premier because they came out with small blocks anyway.Philip A wrote:In NSW you are allowed to self certify if the engine is less than 15% bigger than the original engine and there are no other changes ie engine mounts etc.
Read the RTA site on this . It is quite good.
Regards Philip A.
anyone had any real life experiences?
