Post by fnqcairns »

Sorry winches again - worse actually it's chinese winches again!

I dont want to be sucked in by marketing, anyone know about these winch's? The seller markets they are the same as ones sold in the US etc anyone know what brand they are sold under over there - if at all! cheers fnq

Yeah, I have seen them heaps on the net but none in person yet, actually the ebay winch seems to use the 12000lb cable but the rest looks identical to the repco 9500lb winch.
Confusing for a winch buying newby like me when ratings can be played with in such a way.

cheers

the only difference between the 1200 and the9500 is the size of the cable 8mm is 9500lb and 10mm is 1200lb my 9500 pulls great and never had cable trouble
the engage system for the clutch is a little sticky some times but as for power no probs
i pulled some covers of and the numbers came up as t max on google search so you work that out
paid 870 for it and it has saved me about 5000 dollars in panel damage so a bargain

Mavzilla I think also the HP is higher on the 12000lb, is your car a heavy 4wd? The idea of only needing the 9500lb sounds good to me if it worked for you.

cheers fnq

I have purchased one of those tigerz11 winches off ebay, strong winch for a good price. A mate purchased one also uses it on the farm to pull tree stumps.

You should also be told the bolt holes are a little wider apart than a warn winches so some adjustment to the bull bar may be required.

They are sold by repco as well with a rating of 12000lb for just shy of $1000. My local repco has one on display. In america they are marketed under mile marker winches I believe. if you google the model number "DF-12000" (don't quote me on the model number) it should take you to the chinese website of the manufacturer.

for comparison mine is fitted to an MK shorty and me mates is a GU wagon.

I recently bought one of these winches myself

for the price, the 2 year warranty plus an offered lay-by service you can't go wrong!

mate of mine recently got one of these for $450 on ebay.
stuck it on his bundy and attached it to a crane and dragged the bundy up to resting on its tow bar..all to test it :) wacky people..
he's happy with it so far. hasn't been used in anger though.
