Frontara issues advise needed

Post by mary »

Frontera 1999 build

Faults
Unresolved issues

1.In hot weather the smell of fuel seems to be present when the air-conditioning unit is on-please note that it is switched on recirculate?? could the evaporative emissions control system be faulty? Help

2.When the fuel cap is released the fuel tank seems to fizz. Even if the car is left over night 16 hours later the pressure seems to be very severe.

The sound best to describe opening the petrol cap is like opening a bottle of fizzy drink.

3.Abnormal vibrational noise at low engine RPM under heavy engine load? any suggestions???

4. the car has trouble starting in the morning when cold. However after it has been driven for several hours it does not have a problem starting???? what is wrong with it?????????????

Other faults found

Axle case leaking into front diff house
Steering wheel
3 starter motors faulty
Wheel bearings faulty
Hinges on boot snapped
Camshaft sensor
Clutch pressure plate
paint peeling off wheel hubs

Hi mary,
Sounds like my old one and yours were built by the same bloke. Easy way to fix it is trade it on something else, that's what I ended up doing.

Drop it to a good mechanic, someone other than Holden and ge tthem to look at it, they should be able to track things down for you.
