Just put my Tough dog springs and shocks in today, and what a day to pick for that, 43deg. here and probably just about every where!
Anyway the lift is as claimed (40mm) It actually lifted 55mm but I expect it to settle down to 40 over time.
I didn't get new torsion bars as mine seem ok but I did fit new 41mm foam cell shocks all round.
The resultant ride is a lot firmer but less bodyroll and those shocks give it a smoother ride than the old touring gas Pedders which were like toothpicks compared to the 41mil foam cells.
I took it down a dirt track after fitment thats got a few dry ruts and some slightly rough bumps and corrugations to see how it rode and I was pretty impressed with how it handled. It didn't feel like chattering all over the place like it used to.
Still got to make a bash plate to go in front of the long range tank as it hangs 50mm below the chassis rail with a square front
Still going to do the upper ball joint flip with a 1/2" spacer cos I cant adjust my headlights any further The rake from the lift has dropped the beams a fair bit. I need longer travel shocks up front anyway
The tyre size I've decided on is 235/85/16 or 32"x9.5"x16" (based on Cooper ST's)
The tyres should give me another inch or inch and a half clearance and about another inch up front with the ball joint flip. Still trying to get an old ball joint as a template for the spacers.
All in my good time of course, which could be ages.
Cheers

Make sure you chuck some pics up when you get the 33" on. I'm wanting to go this way too.
I remember a while back there was a extra cab 2003 3.0TD Rodeo in 4WDM mag that had 33x10.5 BFGs on with only 2" suspension and 2" body lift.
I havent got any body lift yet but I'm thinking 1" will do with an extra 2" from the t/b's as well. After all with 33's it's only going to be 1.5" taller tyres in the guards
A 1" body lift doesn't require any extensive and fiddly extensions of other components AFAIK so another reason for wanting to go only 1"

Sudso it is mainly on full lock havent been out on the dirt to much with the new rubber so not to sure how they go under compressionsudso wrote:When do they scrub nico?
On full compression, turning or both?
I just got a set of 33" BFG muddies today.
This justifies a bit more lift I think
The thing I likei s the 235's fit on the original rims
