Hey all, just wondering if anyone here races suzuki sierras, do they make a good race/rally car compared to others? eg ae86 / daddo 1600 / wrx? and how do you set a suzuki up for race? i dont want to drive my current too fast over bumps because it doesnt seem to take it too well.. ive got a mag with a suzuki with a gti engine and twin shocks at each corner apparently it goes well..

also does anyone know of any amature off road rally clubs in WA.. i dont want to spend big bucks but id like to get into it..

A siera wouldn't be my first choice for a rally car.

You cant beet the good ol' datto 1600/510 for race or rally, one of my first cars was a datto 1600.

Try the brisbane sporting car club and if you want too get into rallying look for the gemini class very cheap racing

We've raced rallies, tho that was nearly ten years ago now so not sure what the classes for rallying are anymore. The first time we went to scrutineering for a BSCC rally, they didn't know what class to put us in. The head scrutineer put us in road car class but one of the others wanted to put us into the top class saying 'If we were off-road racing we'd be in class 8' & Chad says ' yeah we are'. Shut him up real quick.
Sierras are fun if set up right. We used to basically use my car for everything, class 8 off-road racing, night runs, towing our catamaran, everyday family car, rallies. Now she just sits in the back yard waiting for some 4wd event (that requires a bit of speed eg Expo at Landcruiser park, hill climbs, rallycross, night runs etc).
Don't think about doing any body lifts, spring overs, bull bars on front, huge tyres. If you want to go out & have fun in a variety of events, sierras are great fun. Just don't expect it to be up there with the wrx or likes. As I live in Qld, have no idea about any car clubs in WA, sorry.

I am biulding a zook for this exact purpose. Not sure where it will fit in at the moment with regards to categories, but it should be reasonably competitive in class 8 etc. 130kw, low, wide, but with SWB Time will tell.

Ofcoarse there are better vehicles for the job, but I love my zooks
