Odd 'squeak' noise from GQ front end??

Greetings,
I've just noticed a strange noise coming from what appears to be the LHS front wheel of my '89 GQ. For want of a better term, it's kind of a 'rubber squeak' noise. It's definitely rotational, because it slows down as the vehicle does and it seems to change a bit when I steer as I'm slowing down. I just really can't find the right word to describe what it sounds like. It's definitely not a scraping/grinding noise. It sounds for all the world like squeaking rubber and lasts for almost the entire rotation of the tyre (well, seems to anyway).

I have no idea where to start looking......any ideas or pointers to get me at least looking in the right direction?

Had same sort of squeak.
Turned out to be a dry hub seal.
Remove caliper,just loosen top bolt and remove bottom.
and swing it up out of the way.
Used a oil can, and a sqirt of oil behind rotor at hub seal.
Dont get it on the rotor.
Worked for me.

Would a wheel bearing make a noise that loud though? I can clearly hear it over the engine etc noise if I have the windows down, but with them up I can only just hear it.

I'll try the hub seal thing this arvo if I get the time. I'll be a happy chap if that's all it is :)

while u got that wheel up of the ground check the bearing freeplay before u take the rim off :P
just a little left of insanity :)

As you check your w/bearings for freeplay,
give the wheel a good spin,
you should hear if the is a bearing prob/noise.

Just thought I'd post the outcome of this, in case anyone else encounters the same thing. Turns out one of the hub seals was in backwards. I had someone repack the wheel bearings for me today (I suspected I might have a bung bearing, due to a sort of 'thud thud' noise while driving, but it turns out they're fine....) and he found it while he was doing that. So, no more 'squeak' noise :)
