hay all, i have recently aquired a set of Swamper thornbirds, havent seen or heard much of these tyres, just wanted to know if anyone else is running them at all? or what have you heard about them??

yeah, i actually got them second hand they are 35x14.5. i thought they would be ok on road aswell, due to the a/t type tread pattern. well, better than a super swamper!
Have'nt gone wheelin' with em yet but on road and gravel they are ok.
when i fully "go bush" i will let you know what they are like...

as Andrew E said above, I got a set back for competiting in the NSW & ACT jamboree in 98 at Milbrodale. They were like.... cheap!
They will churn more mud at 2 psi than any swamper SX/TSL will in the same size. (I got 35x14.5) But yeah, you've gotta run them at bugger all pressure for them to work well. Side lugs are real nice looking at various angles.
Done nearly 14000 klicks on them now. They still have around 12mm or 13mm of tread on them. Think I rocked up to the 2000 jambo with the thornies on, with me boggers in the trailor just for the old ego trip thing.
The 37" thornies would be way wicked. Sure not as good as a bogger, but personally way better than TSL's. (Yep, own a set of them too --- so I can compare). How can I own so many tyres? I got no other life!

Why wouldn't they be better than a swamper? Once those side lugs are on the ground then they become paddles. Those 14.5 come out to around 17" wide when aired down and the lugs become something more like boggers. Swampers dont really do that.
Yes I will agree that when they are inflated they are utter rubbish. Hard to balance, hard to drive on at highway speeds. But at 2psi, they come into their own world.

them paddles dont look half as stagered as a swamper or bogger either...
although they doo seem to be at very different heights onthe side wall
