Had a set in my hilux and to be honest they are only any good if you are stopped. They move around too much when you are driving and an how you shouldnt be watching them you should be watching the road / track.
I took mine out and fitted oil pressure, water temp and volt meter guages in their place. Usually I work on the seat of the pants limiter system - if it starts to feel too hairy and you start to swallow your shorts it may be advisable to back off a bit. Of course this way of guaging tends to be more sedate when you start out and gets more radical as you gain experience and confidence. No point going out and rolling on the first obstacle if the inclinometre is faulty, or scaring the family on their first outing. They doo look cool when you have avideo and it shows the movement and adds a new dimention.
Gauges are no match for the nut behind the wheel getting experince.

Just hang a peice of string from the roof.
If the string is pointing to the floor, all is well.
If the string is pointing out the side windows, the 4by is on it's side.
If the string is flat across the roof, you are upside down.
If the string is wet, you have flooded the car.
Alot more usefull than a inclinmeter.

I did a bit of research on some electronic ones wher you can set an audible alarm which might be of some use ie when it's screaming you make the decision to keep going if you look like your starting to come down or back off if it's just getting worse they were quite expensive and I haven't pursued. Don't think it'd help in every situation but certainly in some.
