Rear diff compatibilites with different year model rockies

Is there any difference between an 84 rocky and one of the 90's ones that have a limo in the back?? Would it just be a straight swap? Thinking along the lines of hunting down a centre from a wrecker for the limo... and on that note, is the limo worth the effort?

Bundy should know if the centres are interchangable... Do you reckon you could find a centre out of a 90s model one tho :?

I'm sure I could find one...... however when the owner sees me jacking the back of their car up I may have sum problems :D

Just curious really, no immediate plans but want to know if their interchangable cause if they are and i see one in the Trading post or sumthing I will grab it :twisted:

Im actually not sure if they are the same. I sold a diff centre to a bloke one time, not sure what model Rocky it was going into, and it wouldnt fit cause it had a different spline count, 28 and 29, if I remember correctly.

u can buy genuine rocky LSD for 3k each IIRC...

there was mention of swapping hemispheres between front and rear.
it was bought up today for proddie class racing.

How much for a LSD? 3 grand each. BS. That makes my Detriots worth about 5 grand each. More than the rest of the vehicle is worth.

And yes, in the earlier F70/75's the front and rear diff centres are interchangable. The only difference is the front has 2 side gears, verses the rear with 4.

so how does that affect the swaping??? i wld love to be able to have 2 limos.

It doesnt. When I got my first diff lock, I took the rear centre and put it in the front for extra strength. Then when I got my second diff lock, it took the second centre out.

do a complete conversion with nissan patrol, thats what i plan on doing and is prob cheaper if you dont have to pay anyone else to do it
