Post by Spartacus »

what is the situation when the welded front goes bang?

can the center be replaced?
Do i replace the whole front axle?

with the rear i pulled the drums n axle shafts out of the center and undid 12 boltsand yanked her out :?:

i dont understand the gregorys "how to fix it"?

pull the center out and replace it

same pricables as the rear but ya got to pull off a whole lot more :)
just have a look at it and see what has to come off wheel id probly go as far as taking right back to the swivel and it will have to come out too to get to the axle you will probly need speacil tools for this as well just reading my GQ id say it would be close to the same? as mine the 1988 july GQ so one of the early ones :)

Huh? MQ front (C200) is just: drain oil, ~10 bolts out of inspection plate on front of diff, slide axles out and knock centre out (is wedged in between plates). Will be pretty obvious what went bang then, and whether it's worth pulling the ring off the carrier. If the centre, axles and CVs are okay, ask someone else about the pinion...

Sliding the axles out is much harder than the rear, but nothing crazy. I wrote a step by step guide here a while ago which should come up in a search if you care.
