3.5v8 77 change to 3.9v8 (advice)

Post by matta »

Hello everyone, I have an opportunity to fit a 3.9v8 (bored out to 4.6) into my 77 with the LT95. I know physically it can be done but how hard is it and what legal/roadworthy issue might I have. Emission/blue plate etc.
I can pick up this motor for about $1500.00 plus fitting. Who would do it?My car is a one onwer and with cosmetic mods but no major engineering changes and here in QLD they like to get you on everything at machinery.
Is it worth the hassle. My current 3.5 goes good, blows no smoke and leaks no oil so it really would be for sheer HP only and to drain my wallet.
