Hey,

i am able to get hold of a cracked 1.6 vitara block cheep

how much a pain is it and what is the best way to weld it up. apparently common with the vit blocks to happen.

best off taking it to a specailist who can weld harden steel , its like trying to weld cast its hard unless ya know whats your doing

just ask around the fabrication joints see what they say

Alloy block as well. got a mate that could weld it probably, going to see during week, see what he says.

Think it is only cracked on the outerblock, poss the waterjacket areas.

easiest way to weld cast / hardened steel is by using stainless rods
just a little left of insanity :)

1.6 are ally blocks, the problem with welding them is the contamination in the alloy, and there wouldnt be any guarantee that it wouldnt crack again. just got to petes and have a looksee at how many cracked blocks there are especially the welded ones, its really not worth the hassle.

I put it in my cracked block 18 months ago as a temp fix, it weeps a bit in severe heat but no big problem.

and also the alloy may have assorbed some oil dunno about cast alloy but at work when we get stuff that been neer oil or in oil and we have to repair it at work
it weeps the oil as u weld
well thats they say it is i duno if its them talking out there ass

if ur gonna do it properly get a half decent tig machine with stain less rods, turrn the ampres down as far as you can, in relation to penertration of course ;) . Watch for weld contamination from oils, as said above tricky if u don't no what ur doing

Not possible, can't be done. been there, done that, by accident by picking up the wrong filler wire.
We are Tig welders, gravity doesn't worry us.
