Gday I have just fitted 50mm raised old man emu coils and shocks, while i was aware i would have to space the gearbox down, I have got to the point where i need to move somthing else.
Currently I have 26mm of spacing btw chassis and crossmenber, this got rid of the harsh vibe at @40km/hr but there is still alot of mild vibration at cruising speed 80-100.
My thought is to get a set of upper rear arms and extend them by 30mm this apparently is the magical figure which will wind the diff back enough to lessen the angle on the last uni.
Has anyone done this as i cant jstify $350 for a set of adjustables.
Or am i wasting my time???? There are so bloody many 2inch raised shorties out there surely you dont all have this amount of drama, please let me know what the fix is
Thanks Brunsy

I had mine 4 inch coils and used gearbox spacers to stop noise. Didnt work so bought upper adjustable control arms to flatten out bottom uni angle. this worked until i got 6 inch coils, then i got a double-cardan shaft made up and got rid of the spacer plates altogether. The arms and DC shaft were the best things i bought

06 Grand Vitara Prestige, 2" lift, Kumho A/Ts, ARB winch bar, snorkel, spotties. Also a Regal 2150 LSC Volva Penta 350 gsi duoprop, and a kayak ;-)
You may be opening up a can of worms. Any possible existing problems and there are many to choose from, can get magnified.
I would suggest getting adjustable upper trailing arms but lower would be better to help fit bigger tyres. It pushes the diff back a tad. You would get stronger ones to cope with the abuse you may put them through.
If you do go down this road, the trick is to keep the angle of the diff the same as the angle of the transfer case, in other words parallel. Trial by error doesn't hurt either. You should be able to take the gearbox spacers out for just a 2 inch lift.
You did go out and buy a shorty instead of a LWB. I told you not to get a shorty.
All the best.

LOL ... shorty's are sooo much cooler than those boring big LWB buggers.
Following on from what 4wd stuff said. When you lift a car a number of things happen to the diff it moves to the side (panhard rod), rotates up (adjustable trailing arms) and actually moves forward. In your case 50mm of lift only a little bit in each case but it is the 2nd one which is cause the vibrations.
You need to bring the angle of the rear output (ie; pinion) down as it has been kicked up when you lifted the car. Either go Adjustable uppers and Strengthened Lowers or Just adjustable Strengthened Lowers. Either way the Strengthened lowers are a must.... and get the slightly longer to cater for the forwards movement..
As 4wd stuff said you should be able to turf the packers with only 50mm of lift. That is after you get both of the outputs parallel. Either get a pitch finder or trial and error -the last one takes a little while to nail spot on.
Probably as 4wd stuff told you nearly everything is exagerated in shortys because they is sooo shorty. If you were to do a similar lift in a Lwb you would have no vibration problems, well they wouldn't be noticeable at least....
YAY shortys rock

Think i have found it
This is going to sound mighty stupid, I jacked up the bastard to see what was going on, a few loose shaft bolts here and there (probly not helping the cause) the rear pinion angle is so bloody subtle it just doesnt look bad enough to vibrate. As i said earlier the first of the vibes was cured from only 10mm of packing, but the constant more subtle drivetrain vibe was giving me the sh*%s, hence MORE packers.
Funnily enough my fuel economy has gone out the window, I found the bloody problem..... when i had my new wheels fitted they have locked my hubs in. The unwanted rummble has been my front diff being driven.
Gone back to 10mm spacers and no vibes ahhhhhhhhhh! my faith in shorties has been restored,
Thanks fellas.
I told the missus the only cure would be a set of new adjustables.

You will have to tell the MRS you saved her heaps of $, so now you can afford a diff lock.
