Re: Factory GU winch
I presume it's a low mount winch if you're using a factory bar. If that's the case then why not use a 9000lb winch. It's a heavy vehicle, so go for a bigger winch if you can.bigpilchard wrote:Hi fellas as in my other post going to put a factory 8000lbs winch on the patrol anyone know what brand nissan uses?and are they any good?

Re: Factory GU winch
I am under the impression they onlu suit the 8000lbs unless you get a genuine arb..........something like that anywayOnPatrol wrote:I presume it's a low mount winch if you're using a factory bar. If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!
Nissan GU factory option winch is a Warn XD9000. I am unaware of any "8000lb" option.
Their GU winch bars will fit upto and including a Warn HS9500 but no more.
9.5XP are too long to fit between the chassis rails, as are M10000 and above.
You can cut the winch frame out and weld it back in offset to suit a M10000 (as I have done) but that obviously requires mods to your new bar, etc ...

Re: Factory GU winch
I was told by a nissan parts dealer that all nissan genuine bullbars are made my ARB. The reason being that not all bars from overseas would pass our ADR laws so it works out easier and cheaper to get ARB to make them instead of importing them.Tiny wrote:I am under the impression they onlu suit the 8000lbs unless you get a genuine arb..........something like that anywayOnPatrol wrote:I presume it's a low mount winch if you're using a factory bar. yes
ARB make the bullbars for Nissan AND Toyota AND ....
the factory GU bar is poo compared to the ARB Deluxe Winch bar
ON GU's i have had
TJM T15 Steel WInch bar - flimsy and weak
NISSAN Steel Winch bar - good except limited winch fitment
ARB Deluxe Steel Winchbar - the best hands down
