Stub axle rooted. Need new axle assembly

Post by Bluey »

After a day of fun 4 wheeling, i siezed a rear wheel bearing on the way home :bad-words: . got real good fuel economy on the way home (on a tilt tray) :D

this is same wheel that the wheel bearings shat themselves last year, think it has worn the stub axle down to a point where now the bearing race spins, causes huge heat, drying the grease and then bearing fails.

now, this is on a BJ73 cruiser, so the stub axle is part of the diff assembly so i can't simply put new/better one on. so it looks like i might need a new diff assembly. so i was thinking maybe i could use this oppurtunity to get rear discs, can anyone tell me what year diff assembly (75 series) has rear disc brakes. any advice will be appreciated

anyone offering cheap diffs feel free let me know :D

Lance, look for 1993-1999 75 series rear diffs to get rear discs. Don't be too surprised, but their parking brakes aren't that good.
