Tie rod ends
Hi guys,
Hoping for some help in this area. Anyone have the measurments of the thread of a GU patrol TRE ? I thought an 80 series one would do the trick but it's slightly too small. I need the thread diameter to be around 23mm.
Got told this arvo by a parts guy that GU aftermarket TRE's arn't available, and i would have to go genuine !! Is he purposely trying to give me a heart attack or just not looking hard enough ??
Thanks, Jeremy

Have seen various combinations of these rod ends on GQ-GUs.
Two types, male and female, female seems to be heavier duty and i think the male version is available aftermarket. Have seen both types on coil-cabs and both types on wagons/shorties so im not sure what determines what vehicle is assembled with which type.
Wendle, got any specs, clues??

You need to be aware that the taper on the GU tie rod ends is different to that of previous GQ's. From memory, I think the thread diameter was 22mm by either 1.25mm or 1.5mm pitch. (I'm not sure which one)
The actual tie rods on GU's are also smaller diameter than on the previous GQ's.
You can buy brand new drag link assemblies (tie rod & both rod ends) from Nissan for the GQ cab chassis' for around the $230 mark. (It's cheaper to buy the whole assembly than just the tie rod ends separately) These are the heavy duty items using the female tie rod ends. The thread on the rod is around the 30mm diameter on these and the tie rod diameter is 32mm. The whole assembly is massive.
Regards Andrew.

I wish i could say it was for something interesting but i'm just trying to replace the tie rod ends on the surf. I swore they were 80 series ones but i got some and they're too small. The GQ one cheezy mentioned of 22x1.5 pitch sounds closest. I could actually slide the 80 series one down inside the thread on the steering arm with only very slight contact of the threads.
