spoa on 40 series?
hey fellaz, new here on the forum but got a question for any body who could help out, looking at getting a 40 seies cruiser thats got the lot well allmost. the only thing it doesnt have is a spoa and well im not to clued up on the cost or procedure for such a mod.if any one can help out in the central coast area or anywhere that would be sick.
Depends if your doing it yourself or not. I did mine for well under a grand (that includes buying an entire disc brake front end) using the stock springs.
All you need are longer U-bolts, extended brake lines, spring perches (you can use the originals but IMO you're better off getting new ones as it saves f*cking around with the grinder), longer front shocks (you can re-use the back ones) and a double arm or high steer arms. It is also a good time to do a shackle reversal if you want to.
Not sure how much a shop would charge but there is a fair few hours involved so Id guess between $2K-$3K. If you can weld and can find an angle, I would definitely do it yourself. Heaps cheaper and you learn a whole lot about your truck in the process. Plenty of info on them here aswell and heaps of members have done them so no shortage of advice either.
Or you could buy mine with a spring over already done and save yourself the hassle
Hope this helps.

How does the 350 with carby handle big side slopes doesnt stall???
and maybe you can reuse the lockers with different axles depending on which way you go??
or sell the lockers to fund the coilies??
sounds like it could be a good thing, suprising it didnt get SPOA alot earlier??

on topic of changing diffs dont rule out putting 60 diffs under it you'll get wider track which is good for the height, better brakes depending what 40 diffs they are gain plus the 40 centres will swap over..but that means steering and then and then

Re: good questio
also means dealing with the offset pumpkin pretty much being in the way of where the springs want to run.scotto wrote:nopechevJ40 wrote:the man posts a good question is the readr shaft in a forty longer then the front?

Spit my last breath
krawlin thinking of doing the same are you going to run standard 40 steering or going 60. If there is any one out there that knows if you can do spoa using 40 steering parts as i have got power steer already and dont want the hassle of swaping it over, also how would i go getting it passed road worthy in west aus Cheers
All you need to run the standard 40 series steering is a double arm. These are available from Snake racing and Offroad industries to name a couple.79 SWB QUADCAM wrote:krawlin thinking of doing the same are you going to run standard 40 steering or going 60. Or you could fab your own one pretty easily out of two standard steering arms.
