So did you read this post before you hit submit. Can you seriously say that it makes any sense at all, and that people are going to be able to give you any sort of sensible answer at all.

Maybe take the time to actually figure out, in detail, what you want to do, why you want to do it and then type out a detailed post explaining ti all so people can give a proper response.

Does it have IFS and how do you change your nickname :finger:

You want to put a lux rear diff in an escort .. or do you wan to make it a 4x4 ?

if you wan to put alux rear into it, you will need to narrow it and put new spring pads on it, an dpossibly mods to your driveshaft, that bigger diff will whoa up some of your horsies but you knew that and want to do it anyway ...

I re read the heading, u said lux DIFFS so u want to put 2 lux diffs in it??
So u want a 4x4 escort?? The only way to do that would be to put a escort body on a zuk chassie and running gear. U dont need lux diffs cos u arnt going to run 35-39" tyres on a escort, are u??

Is it going to be legal?? or off road only??

All zuk gear and 31s would make a huge escort, would look cool to

you guys all got it wrong

he wants to put lux diffs 'in' the escort.

im not sure they will fit in the boot, so you might have to recline the front passenger seat and shoe horn each axle in through the window

you should probably put something down to protect the interior from getting scuffed, but its not impossible.

a mate of mine put lux diffs in a carolla, but it was a 4 door (heaps of room ;) )

Maybe his friend has an Escort Panelvan, in which case they may be easier to fit in.

No, No, No, you dunderheads!
He wants the diffs to make it boggie drive (6X4), he has a line on chrome rancho's and he can only fit 12 shocks on one diff, so if he fitts another diff he can get 2 dozen of those bad boys under there,

Pass on the hilux diff Q's.

But I will try to help.

Find a Ford Capri V6 and put that diff in the escort.

Escort would have a narrow diff housing and most really small car have narrow hosing and small low hp motors that don’t warrant strong diffs.

The other options in Volvo some have Dana 30 and some Dana 44. The 44 are stronger. Disk brakes are stock as well on most models.

Just on the off chance you just want a hilux rear end in an esky.

Early 2wd luxs were narrower and are still the 8" toyota diff centre.

If you use the early lux diff you end up with falcon 5 stud. you can then put falcon hubs and disks on the front and then you have falcon 5 stud all round (much better wheel choices) otherwise get the diff studs redrilled to escort.

plenty strong enough for an escort but they are also way too heavy. The biggest problem it they tear the mounts out of the floor!!!

Not too big a problem if the car is just for straight line stuff, but on rally cars they can be a bastard.

The later lux diffs are about 100mm too wide, so need some really ugly off set rims.

Might help a little.

Banga.

This is the funniest F*&%NG post i've read....
I Think the idea of putting hilux diffs under an escky is awsome. You should be able to defy gravity, not just drive through the first layer!
Of coarse we all know that you'd need a transfer out of an Explorer to make it a true 4WD escort.

ok just to clear it all up

he is not going to put two diffs under it, he will only be placing one in the rear. He just wants to know if the hilux diffs will bolt straight on.

and what ratios does he need

what makes him think it would bolt in  needs to be narrowed.... really needs to be narrowed :?

Needs to have the spring pads removed from the top and placed on the bottom.... SPUA, or it'll have that classic drag profile and some

Ratios will depend on tyre size  not like he's trying to match the front ratio is it :? He will have small tyres no doubt so a high ratio is the go :? The hilux diff will bolt in as easy as a mog diffs in a suzuki.... you either have a really good reason for doing it or you're a bit special and do it cause it sounds really cool

Why does he want to do it? Does it have a motor likely to kill the original diff cause if so he'll want to be upgrading other parts of the driveline too

Ahhhh!!

then the answer is ... no

Well .... that's the end of that one, ...was fun while it lasted
