I would like to fit one of these to my td42, has anyone fitted one to this engine?
My engine doesn't get hot enough to pressurise the system (have not towed anything heavy yet), so the top hose is always soft to the touch with both air and water.
These units are such a good save my butt idea but will it work properly on one of these engines?

Haven't actually used one in either vehicle yet, which is a bit strange as I'm a touch paranoid about coolant loss after losing a race engine years ago when the water temp gauge didn't move after a sudden coolant loss.Hi Everyone.
I have been following this thread with interest as I manufacture the Engine Saver Low water Alarms.
I though I would try & answer some of the questions posed
I got into the business as a result of a totally seized engine caused by a blown heater hose.
I know the pain & anguish this can cause.
I researched all the available alarms & was disapointed.
Either too crude and unreliable or to complicated & difficult to fit.
I eventually designed & made my unit (which by now had cost me over $800 in developement costs!)
I got too far in & couldn't stop!
It simply worked and was reliable and maintenance free.
A chance meeting resulted in trade orders for 30 units, so I ended up in business.
Originally we used a screw in probe, but as a result of requests from the trade we designed & manufactured our own under hose probe.
This was designed as most people want to fit the unit themselves and don't want to drill holes in radiators & tanks.
We import the high temperature insulation material for the probe, The rubber seal is an industry standard device used in several other applications.
Over five hundred of our units are in service in Australia & overseas,
Probe sealing is no problem as long as the instructions are followed.
Indeed I have personally seen a screwed in probe crack & blow out of an engine. This can't happen with an under hose probe
We have been manufacturing & refining for 3 years now with total emphasis on reliability. New models were released only this week.
Any how, although it is a business, I still get a buzz when someone call & tells me his alarm warned him about coolant loss and he didn't wreck his engine.

I have had contact with the maker (suspect he dresses well
), fastest email product reply's ever, but he was low on information relating to this engine outside of just the generic procedures which is understandable considering the number of engines these units can fit in standard form.
I am certainly getting one but was hoping for a bit better idea on what's the best way to do it on these engines they have a reputation for holding air so I have read and mine does also.
In 20 years I have had 3 radiators let go without warning, I know from experience that if the cooling system is working properly for any lenght of time I stop monitoring the guage as often, recipe for disaster, and these engines are just too damn costly to rebuild, $150 is chicken feed compared.
I there is enough interest here we could chase a bulk order?!

Yeah Bogged that's where I first came across the unit.
About the bulk buy, after floating the idea with the maker the discount offered wouldn't be enough to tempt those who are borderline about fitting one, so a loss all-round especially if we could have come up with a decent enough number of orders. So at least for me the idea is dead in the water.

How often do you hear of it being an issue?
Bogged 3 times so far for me. Each time I caught the problem before it got hot enough to cause real damage (one catch was pure luck). Every time it was a radiator splitting without warning and dumping all the water under pressure.
I know of 2 guys who ruined their engines from overheats but have heard of many more for what thats worth.
But you are right I may never have this problem again although this engines value has me covering a few extra bases.
Dont want to be a monday expert with this old girl.
