Biggest stock tire size??

Post by Axel Von Gardan »

Whats the biggest tire size from factory to -83 Patrol? (MK??)

We have damn strict regulations on tire sizes,we can only use 51mm (thats 2") larger and 102mm (thats 4") wider tires that was the biggest original tire size, and I SURE want bigger legal tires than 31"

In my registration notes says that biggest size was 205R16, that´s pretty small,ehh?? By this size I only could drive with those tiny little 31", actually driving with tiny 33" BIG CRIMINAL :D

Foolish laws, before late ninetees you could register any tire what just fits into your car, but now law has changed...

In Europe there have been 31x10.5 optional on 7x15 wheels, some were equipped with 7.50-16's on 5.5" or 6" split rims.
You think german TÃœV paperwork will help ? If yes I can get you paperwork for 235/85-16 on stock wheels.

Optional from dealer or from factory?
Those papers would better than GOOD! :smilecolros:
European or North American papers will be fine at least.

In Australia the largest (tallest) tyres were 7.50R16 as well for early GQ. Later GQ's also got a 265/75/16 option.

Seems it isnt just here in Queensland, Australia we're getting crappy restrictive tyre sizes.

I was looking for 'standard' tyre sizes for my MK, the only thing I could find was the inflation chart sticker. It stated 2 sizes, 7.5x16 and 10R15. Does this mean I can run any 15" tyre that's 10 inches wide as no diameter is listed, or is there a more official determination of tyre sizes than the inflation chart?

Just old school measurements.

9R= 30x9.5x15
10R = 31x10.5x15
11R = 32x11.5x15
12R = 33x12.5x15

The 235/85 is for ALL Patrols, including the 160/260's.
If you drop me your email adress in a PM I'll send you the PDF file.
The 10R15 (31x10.5) were a factory option on a special edition called "Avenue" in Germany.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought you needed all 3 #'s to work out the height. in that crappy style anyway.

if it was 225/75r15 it would be a 15"rim, 225mm wide and the 75 is the sidewall heaigh as a percentage of the width...

But i've never know'n for sure. i like 37x13.5x15 much better.
