I'm wanting to put another battery in to my Mav, but currently the air cleaner housing for the turbo is smack bang where the battery would go (It's some big metal job). Where the precleaner would usually go is an ARB compressor, which would also have to be moved.
I understand that some turbo setups put a K&N type filter in to the precleaner housing and just use that, is this correct? Top mount might be difficult as I am expecting to fit an intercooler.
Any suggestions, photos of such installations would be great

yea, standard precleaner would be useless. The outlet is about 1/4 the size if the inlet.

Also, where do people usually mount their ARB compressor, this is for diff locks only.
Hi there. I used to have a TD42 motor in my truck with a std duel battery cradle which mounts near your radiator overflow bottle. I then put a TB42e motor in and the new air box was in the way of the old cradle so I bought one from ARB that mounts on the passinger side fire-wall in the corner of the engine bay. I have found that this works well however, you can only fit a smaller battery in which isn't a problem as I run twin Optima red tops. I'm not shore if this will work for your situation but it is another option anyway.

Sorry for the hijack, GQ TROL could you please take a pic of the ac pipe as it passes the air cleaner into the rad support. I want to fit one of the same cleaners but have different plumbing. It may be easier to either get the TD ac plumbing or custom one as it's going on TB. Thanks by the way, I got your pic on the other forum and have been contemplating my options.
I did the motor swap because My TD42 died and it was going to cost me too much to rebild and turbo it so I put a TB42e motor in. I have 4 mates with differn't turbo set ups on their TD42's and my stock (only has extractors and 2 1/2 zaust) motor flogs all of them, keeping in mind it IS a std motor. I would like to see you get 190rwkw (easly) out of a diesel for $5000 using only a std motor e.g no turbo to start with . There is much more room for me to work with in a petrol motor and replacment donk's are a hell of alot cheaper than the diesel.

That aircleaner assembly is out of a factory turboed GQ Safari (TD42-T). I assume the ones for GU TD42-T are identical, as the air filter part number is the same for both GQ / GU.
It bolts straight up, without any other mods. Just have to go crazy with the urethane sealant where the inlet to the cleaner fits up flush against the snorkel intake through the inner guard.

What i'm trying to say is that if you took a std. TD42 motor and a std. TB42e motor and spent 5 to 7g's on them the petrol will come out on top power wise. It is alot harder to get good power out of a diesel as the std injector pump restricts power to about 100kw. A new pump would cost at least 4g's
