GU wheel bearings

Post by 4.5PATROL »

I've got a 4.5 GU wagon and i locked my muddies up in the wet and bashed a kerb pretty bad and i'm pretty sure i've stuffed the front left wheel bearing and the rights on the way out. Does anyone know if i;ll be damaging anything else if i continue to drive until i get it fixed??

Heat might weld the bearing into the hub, depends how bad they have failed.

Bearings may also destruct and wheel falls off, hub and all, rare but possible.

The job is not difficult, just time consuming and messy. Should be able to complete both sides in a day without much prob.

Helps to have a service manual just to let you know what you are in for before you start.
