Ignition

Post by NIK »

I went out to the shed today to finish off building my front bar but ended up pulling out my heater to clean all the crap out of it. Its a wonder it worked at all. Anyway when I pulled it out I unpluged the fan motor and the plugs in the instrement cluster, but when I put it back togethersomthing crazy happened. When I turn the headlights on the parkers come on but the headlights stay off and it powers up the ignition. The hazard lights in the dash light up but they dont go on and to turn the motor off you have to turn the headlights off.
Any ideas whats happened and how to fix it.
Thanks Nik.

my tailights used to pulse in time to the music on my stereo for awhile. Also had the joy of the rear indicators not working if the fan was on, but if you turned the fan off the indicators did but not the parkers.

Ah the joys of the Suzuki electrical system. Who said the Japanese had no sense of humour

Yes id had a few beers but I think it could be an exorsism!
Ive spoken to a few people and the most sensible ideais that suzukis are constantly powered and the switch is on the earth side.So maybe ive left off an earth somewhere.

Ok Ive just had another look. The park lights work fine but when I turn on the driving lights the hazard lights only light up on the dash and the ignition is powered because when the motor is running it wont stop unless I turn the lights off. So somehow the lights and ignition are crossed.

I am sure that Suzuki must have Sub Contracted the electrical out to Landrover/Range Rover designers. It has to be the worst car I have run across for electrical except a Landie/Rangie.
