FJ45 2nd fuel tank

Post by darrenfj40 »

I have a fj45 with a 6 cylinder diesel and would like a greater mileage range between refuelling. Can anyone tell me if I should mount the second tank by strapping it to the bottom of the aluminium tray or should I secure it to the chassis rail. If anyone has information would be greatly appreciated.

i had one in my shorty diesel wich i just took out and it was mounted to the chassi rail it was a 60 or 65 ltr tank it sat high and it never got hit when i was wheelin about

if you mount it to the alloy tray the alloy will eventually fatigue and n fall out as well as stuff your tray maybe a bit different if you put large plates either side of the tray tho

Hi, Zeyphly can u tell me how it was attached to the tray? I was thinking that maybe I can attach my tank to the steel rails on the tray.

I have a FJ45 with a 200 litre tank that is strapped under the tray. I have had it full and been bushbashing and have never had any trouble with it. The bolts used are cup heads.
