Overheating hilux

I have a bit of a overheating problem with my hilux Ln106 running 7.5psi boost, when the motor is working hard towing a camper or going up a long hill it starts to get hot if I stop and let it idle the temp will come down to normal pretty quick, driving it around town or on the highway is fine. I have had the radiator cleaned (by radiator shop) new thermostat and fan coupling. Need help as it is starting to @#$% me off or is this normal for a hilux with an aftermarket turbo.

Isn't normal, I've got a dts turbo on my 2.8 and the temperature gauge has never moved once it gets to temp. Whether I'm towing my camper up the beach or north coast ranges.

Do you still have the fan shroud on? The guys that put new tanks on my radiator said to put it back on when they saw I'd taken it off. Could there be a blockage in the engine somewhere that doesn't let it flow properly. Maybe drain the radiator and jam the hose in the top and bottom points on the engine.

Yep still have the main part of the fan shroud on but not the small part on the bottom and did flush the engine and heater out when I had the radiator done. How do you chack if the water pump is working properly? as I have been wondering if its not woking properly and that is the problem.

same happened to me, replaced thermostat got radiator and air con flushed and cleaned, ended up havin 2 cracks in the head on the 2nd and 3rd cylinders.check ur head gasket and cylinder head, u wanna hope its not that though.mine was a 96 2.8 dsl

im having the same sort of problems with my 2.8. make sure the A/C condensor is not full of mud and grass seeds, then try putting some fome rubber in the gap at the top and botton between the body and the readiator to maximise all the air flow through the radiator, when you add a bullbar driving lights winches it all reduces the air flow so you need to try and make up for it somehow.hope this is of some help

Had a simalar Problem with my 2000 model hilux after i removed engine and replaced it with a 1KZ. It had an overheating proplem on hills and hot days so i replaced the radiator with the 1KZ radiator (about 4 inches taller than standard) problem better but not fixed so i replaced the engine fan with one off a surf i think, it had 10 blades instead of 7 and it has fixed the problem.

i had a similar probs...got accidently fixed with the deisel shop re-did my o-rings in the injector pump, tuned after by them and the made it richer, run bettter, cooler and faster!!!

long and short....is your fuel/air ratio right???
