Can anyone think of any reasons why a person couldn't/shouldn't use an endless chain/block n tackle in kit instead of a hand winch? I guess in mud they could gum up a bit.
Any other reasons come to mind?

come alongs are nice, just remember they tend to be short grab lengths so you'd need an extra slide grab to hold it while you re jig for the next pull.
